While not really political news, a excrement-ton of nudes from famous actresses just got dropped on 4chan, but I'm only aroused by the mini-gun for sale on GunBroker. Does this mean I'm gay?
Both of these things are relevant to my interests... for science of course
Alright, I'm going to give my basic opinion on the Palestine-Israel conflict
First, the only real "claim" anyone can have to a piece of land is having the strength to control it, either the military strength or political strength. Israel has both, they've played the political game well and gained powerful allies, and they've fought and won three times against other, larger more powerful nation states. Have injustices been done to the Palestinians? Yes, I'm not claiming Israel is a saint, they've got plenty of blood on their hands, but human history is full of one group of people committing injustices to another, this isn't likely to change. pretty much every nation has a group of people who have has their lands taken off of them and been oppressed sometimes in the past, the Native Americans, the Welsh, Scottish, the Sami, Basques... I can go on. I don't know what makes the Palestinians and Jews so special.
Second of all, I don't think there's any doubt that Hamas has belligerent intentions towards Israel. In the real world, when a nation state (which the Palestinians want to be recognized as) declares war, or makes belligerent actions towards another state, that state in entitled to respond in kind, in political circles this is known as a state of war. It doesn't really matter the nature of the attacks, the only reason we have "proportionate response" laws is to prevent nuclear weapons being thrown about. If mexico launched artillery strikes on US bases and cities near the border and declared war on the US I think the US would be well within its right to invade Mexico and crush them with all of the conventional power it can muster, that what happens when you declare war on a stronger power. Ask Georgia what happens when you mess with the bear.
