Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer
« on: August 05, 2011, 08:46:12 PM »
[float=left][attach=1][/float] Well it seems that not even the Mass Effect franchise will escape the grip of EA's multiplayer moneygrabbing stretch. According to the latest cover of XboxWorld360 the game will in fact be featuring multiplayer. More info will come after the full magazine is realeased. Could this be the possible scenario leaked earlier?

I've got no problem with Mass Effect multiplayer in the future. Just not on ME3.

Thank you for the info. I am.. conflicted.

On one hand, do want co-op so I can play as Legion.

On the other hand, it probably wont be that kind of multiplayer.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore

But to put it in a more civil way: Why would ME3 need a multiplayer? Who would even buy ME3 for its multiplayer?
I still personally see multiplayer as a useless feature in ME3, but whatever. As long as it doesn't do damage to the rest of the game design.

EDIT: And now after ME3's release, I can look back to myself and laugh to myself about this.

If it's co-op, and only co-op, then I could totally see it being awesome, if they don't gently-carress it up. I do not want DM or TDM though. I also definitely don't want everyone to be able to play as their Shepard, because goddamn that would suck.

I honestly won't even care about this "scandal" until I actually play the game.

If it sucks it sucks, if it rocks it rocks. We'll see in 2012.

We agree on that. But if it turns out to be something else than co-op, it is likely I'll never even touch the MP.

I don't care if it has multiplayer or not so long as the single player is in line with what's been done already.

As long as the single player continues the way it has any multiplayer they add is merely a potential gain.  No cause for alarm.

Maybe if it's a separate campaign or something like Horde mode where you can pick who you want to play as, then I'll probably be okay with it.

If it's anything competitive, chances are I'm probably not going to like it.

^ This. last time I checked, Most multiplayer games done by EA are farmed out to a separate dev studio, or another team within the studio. There is no need to always assume the worst... I don't know, What if it is actually... now hear me out on it

Good?

I'm simply worried because experience has taught me to be worried.

I've seen precious few SP-focused games successfully add in multiplayer without detriment to the singleplayer campaign.  Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is honestly the only one I can think of offhand that succeeded.

And it took you to remind me that the game actually has a multiplayer. :D
I have never tried it, though. Mainly because MP in SP focused games never really manages to catch my attenion.

Dead Space 2 had MP, and I thought the SP was still great.

As stated, there really isn't any reason for drama over this. More power to them, in fact, for doing something like this. The SP will be unaffected, and it could actually be a little fun depending on what exactly the MP is. Hopefully we'll see a demonstration in the coming months.

A good cooperative mode would be absolutely awesome.  ;D
But if it's just Call of Duty: Mass Effect Edition, I'd probably just end up still playing the real Call of Duty instead.  :/
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

While I am kind of an achievement whore, I wouldn't care for the MP achievements in this case. :P

They should do what Dead Space 2 did.
No MP achievements.

Yeah.
Good thing too since I could almost never stay connected to a sever long enough to finish a MP match.

From what I've read online alot of people had problems in that game connecting to the EA servers.

EA Servers Suck, They should just go P2P like every other game... Sadly it would be a better connection
