Battlefield 3 Dev Points Out PC Graphics Superiority
« on: June 17, 2011, 07:32:45 PM »
[float=left][attach=1][/float]Okay.  I'll admit it.  I embellished the title a little.  Recently the first preview of Battlefield 3 on console was released and people have been comparing the PS3 and PC views noting that the PC version is notably higher quality.  Johan Andersson, Rendering Architect for BF3, tweeted "why would anyone expect that console would look the same as PC? if that was the case we would have failed with the PC version".  I'm glad to see DICE isn't holding back the PC version because of the consoles lack of rendering power and I hope more devs continue in this vein.  PC's are and have always been top dog when it comes to raw performance and games built for them shouldn't be held back because of consoles limitations.

P.S. They also have some PC screenshots to be found Here.

I don't think this really comes as a surprise to anyone.  Battlefield 3 appears to be the first next-gen game (on PC at least), and to expect the PS3 or Xbox 360 version to hold up to that is just asking too much.

That said, I was fairly impressed with how well the PS3 version performed with the demo.

I am pleased that a developer is willing to state the truth as a fact and not an opinion. +1 for BF3

Of course.  I have a PS3 but that is just for Blurays, Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Ratchet and Clank.

I thought that you had a pretty sweet one with Nvidia cards in a SLI configuration...

I may end up getting it on the ps3 if I can't get a decent computer.

Parents took and sold it a long time ago. Working on getting money for a new one.

But how do you play Runescape?!?!?!

In other news, I am very excited to get BF3. The CoD series has pissed me off for long enough, and if I can get used to BF gameplay I believe I will not have to turn back.

I don't. I quit years ago. CoD also makes me somewhat angry. MW2 was the only one I found..playable. Mostly for 'of their own accord'.
Anyway, I truly believe bf3 will be the killer. LE bonus or not.

After seeing BF3 run on PC, I was sold. It is looking beautiful and the sound is very nice so far.

I have a dual core sitting around with 4 gigs of ram lol, you'd need a graphics card and hard drives though.

I have those things. Is the RAM expandable?
