I think this is the right place for this, but I'm not sure. I saw the word 'fan fiction' in the description, so I put it here.
Working on a new ME fanfic, and some input from the community would be great.
Takes place after the Reaper invasion (yes, it does require alot of guessing and speculation on how ME3 ends, but I'm going to do it anyways, deal with it!), and my first task is to decide the species, gender, age, and name of the main protagonist. Throw out recommendations if you wish.
NOTE: To put it out there now; varren, klixxen, and geth are not going to work with this story, so don't recommend them.
Also: Don't recommend Shepard's prospective, please
-
You know, that if you ask for a reccomendetion for the species of the protagonist from me, you do know what you will get? Do I even have to say? :P
But I would guess that you would want to write from a turian perspective instead?
-
Vorcha! ... What? You didn't say it wasn't allowed.
Failing that, turian. Turians are awesome.
Note that turians use Roman names. You probably already knew that, but I've seen people name them something silly that sounds more fitting for a batarian.
-
I already know you're going to say Quarian :D
Honestly, I don't really have a specific POV I want to write from, if I did I would do it :P
So I'm seeing what people come up with before making up my mind
-
Turian. I say turian, and by some reason I would like to see female turian.
-
Turian.
Female.
Age, not sure.
Name, don't ask me I've never been good at them.

HAHAHA! Honestly, I had considered doing vorcha, then I remembered they only live for 20 years (and your freakin vorcha love story didn't help once I remembered it Muk :P )
And it seems that Turian is rather popular among this group, with the exception of Sav of course :D
Also: After some thinking, I have decided that I will do this story from the prospective of a child (12-13 years old). Yes, I know it sounds really weird, but I've noticed that you don't see many in the ME universe, so it could be fun.
With this new information, does anyone have a new opinion on species and gender?
(and for those wondering why a child this young would be away from their parents in the ME universe: orphaned)
-
Race: Turian
Gender: Female
Age: 12-13 as you said
Name suggestion: Nia
-
Heeey, turians are my favourites after quarians. I have no problem with that. :D
Maybe I just like dextros, hmmm.....?
But anyway, I think you would enjoy writing from turian female the most, and therefore that would be the best for your story.
-
(and your freakin vorcha love story didn't help once I remembered it Muk!)
Man, that thing somehow managed to spread?
I only PMed it to a few people.

How would you define "a few people"?
I know I'm one of the people you posted it to, but I have always thought that it's basically a thing every old TZF regular knows.

Well, yeah, everyone probably knows about it. But not everyone has read it.
And CB isn't a regular. Unless CB stands for Camo Badger
But this is straying way far away from the topic.

This has caught my interest. I don't remember ever seeing this being mentioned.

And this is good point, and it seems popular enough, so it has been decided!
Now I just need a name

I like Hiani best. Though it is a word from one of the dictionaries in the EotIV OOC thread. It means silver :P

I have learned something new!
And that has made me like it a little more actually...

Well, I've got a few chapters completed, but I will be editing and touching up for a while before I decide to post them, so today I will 'wet your whistle' with a quick look at some of the characters in this story. If you have any questions about them, please feel free to ask.
Hiani (no last name on record)- Hiani is a Turian orphan on Vakarian Station. Her parents were both killed in the Reaper Invasion when she was 2 years old. She was rescued by a Krogan, who is now the Headmaster at the orphanage where Hiani lives. 10 years later she has yet to be adopted.
She is incredibly adventurous, and gets into trouble constantly.
Vin Mor- Vin is a Volus orphan on Vakarian Station. He was brought to the orphanage when he was just a newborn, his widowed mother having died during childbirth. At 9 years old, he looks up to Hiani like a big sister, and her advice tends to get him into a few small binds.
He is shy around strangers, but is very talkative and friendly when he gets to know you.
Gav'Linor and Tara'Vora- These 2 quarians work in the shipyard of Vakarian Station. Gav is an electronics engineer, and Tara is a mechanic. They have worked together for 6 years, and have been dating for almost 4. The pair live together in a cramped apartment in the slums, but make the most of it; happy as long as they are together. Gav hopes to propose to Tara soon, but is waiting until he makes a little more so he can provide Tara the best life possible. Tara is patiently hoping for Gav to propose as well, regardless of how much money they have; she just wants to be with him even if they are homeless.
*These are the main characters from which the story is told. A few characters you may remember will show up throughout the story, such as Commander Jane Shepard, and may or may not hold a large part
-
Sounds interesting.
I'll try to find some time to read it when it's done.
-
Interesting cast of characters. I am very interested in this story.
And I find the fact that my name suggestion passed kick-ass.
-
Vakarian orphanage, eh?
I assume the building is well-calibrated.

Why not just do humans?
Oh wait, suggesting that makes me a heretic

Indeed. You must perish.

Naturally, the station is very well calibrated. The workers are always calibrating, and never talk to anyone because of it.

There are humans too you xenophobe! :P

Update: Part 1 of the story is complete, 7 chapters total, but I wouldn't mind some editing from another party. If you're interested, or if you just want a sneak peak, I am willing to get you however much you want of it.
If you are interested in helping with the editing, please be honest; i promise nothing you say can hurt my feelings.
Also, don't be worried that I say 'Part 1', it will be a pretty long story with many, many parts to it.
I will likely have to post this story on BSN, as it is the only place I have access to right now. I will put up the link to it when I feel it is good enough to be read by the internet jackals :P

I could just hug you for that.

I'd suggest getting a hold of Harold, he's a good one to ask.

Actually.....I have to agree. More Humans are needed. In my opinion.

Sense you make
Humanity, gently-carress yeah
-
Sense you make
Humanity, gently-carress yeah
fine, let me tell you the human characters that are playing a role:
Commander Jane Shepard: Founder and Supreme Commander of the Galactic Peacekeepers (next generation of spectres)
Jacob Taylor: Council Security Adviser
Miranda Lawson: Leader of Cerberus
Happy now Human-Supremists? :P
-
Sense you make
Humanity, gently-carress yeah
Yeah. Its not that I am a supremacist its that seeing the same formula of Alien Centric Fanfiction gets Drab, I Do not mind Aliens, but having Human Characters mixed into the main character lot would be more interesting.
Its hard to explain, am too tired to go into what I mean in detail, but will do so at next chance when asked. Its My opinion anyways.
@CB Also I won't mind checking out your Fanfic and critiquing it . On my own Time of course.
-
Really? Don't most fanfics put Shepard as central character?
-
Really? Don't most fanfics put Shepard as central character?
Yeah, but there are almost none that has a human as protagonist otherwise. You're right, though - I guess about 80% of all fanfics are about Shepard.
-

Thats redundant. Original Fanfics, with original characters are much different. Ones that don't have Shepard rarely have humans.
But some that have had Humans were really good. Like CC's oneshot FanFic. You know the one that made everyone cry?
-
Well. It's probably because the game is already from a human's perspective. And aliens are more interesting for a writer.
-

What is this I'm hearing of? A fanfic with Snow-white powers?

Yeah I can understand that. Anyways its just my opinion.

If only I could remember the name, Someone will probably link you. Though you may have read it before, though not sure if you where here for that time period.

Drifting?

Which one? I'm pretty sure 90% of his stories have had that effect

And Rage's "Deception" had a human, Toby Heiko, as the main protagonist.
And that CC's oneshot still had Shepard in it :P, if you are refering to "Drifting" as I presume you are.
But I have no problems with an alien as a main protagonist. It's still rare enough in general.
-
Ho-kay. I must say that so far I approve. This seems like it will be interesting.
