Fallout: Old World Blues
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:45:26 PM »
[float=left][/float]Some info about Old World Blues, the third piece of Fallout: New Vegas DLC in the planned quartet, (The first two being Dead Money and Honest Hearts) was recently released in Qore, an online magazine for the Playstation Network. For those of you unfamiliar, Old World Blues is to be set in the Big Empty, a "Technological graveyard of the Old World," and a location originally planned to appear in Van Buren, the cancelled original Fallout 3 meant to be developed by Black Isle studios before it went under.

Included is some concept art with some rather interesting contents, and an interview showing off some of the voices of Old World Blues, and a bit of the actual content of the DLC.[cutoff]

I read all this stuff about OWB yesterday on the wiki, and it's no less interesting now.

There are brains in jars from Old World scientists.

But the interview said that you're trying to get your brain back.

Probably lobotomized you like they do with everyone there. The Lone Wanderer got lobotomized and came out fine, don't see why the Courier can't.

At 1:58, they say the first thing you are told is that they've taken your brain.

I guess that makes sense.
But then why would you go through all the trouble of helping the floating jars for that?

Because they're apparently not as bad as the alternative. Why are you asking me? I haven't played it.

Well I was asking everyone, you just happen to answer.
:P

Also, I was just asking if what I heard was right.
Turns out it was.

Well, apparently Lobotomites are making an appearance.

So this theory holds water.

Yep. That's why I said they lobotomize everyone there, because I knew about the Lobotomites. Who are all the people that have ever gone there.

Hmmm...lobotomy again. Two games in a row where the player gets lobotomized and nothing happens. That's an astounding blind and fat luck on the part of the Lone Wanderer and the Courier. People don't necessarily come out A-OK out of lobotomies.

To be fair, it is just a rumour.

And remember, this is the game where a guy gets shot in the head twice and survives, mutant animals run rampant, a man survived being set on fire and thrown in the grand canyon, and a whole mess o' other ridiculous feats.

Oh, I like suspension of disbelief being stretched here, it's part of the fun. My only gripe is if they use the same plot device twice. It's kinda repetitive.

Well, to be fair, the lobotomy in Point Lookout is much different than the lobotomies performed in the Big Empty.

And I honestly doubt the developers at Obsidian even realize they're reusing plot points.
