The Fashion Thread....
« on: June 21, 2011, 06:46:01 AM »
Ok, so I'm going to do this...

As some of you know, I'm pretty big into creating my own outfits. I spend a lot of my free time trawling thrift stores for resources I can sew into something unique and awesome.

Might just be the girl in me talking, but I'm sure there are some of you who are into clothes and fashion, so I figured I'd start a thread to talk about it.

What kinda look do you go for? What garments appeal to you?

Go....

Okay, well I am not a massive fan of fashion to the extent of some people but I know what I like.
And Right now I am in the mood of either having the whole gentlemanly suit thing, a greatcoat/long trench/duffelcoat over normal clothes and for some reason I want to go around in full ME2 style armour. :P

Also I would love the whole long leather great coats, I would have a wardrobe full of them.

I don't know it they even suit me but I'd have them if I could! XD

Also I am not sure on hats...hats don't seem to suit me.
Come look at my art.

I just generally try to go for 'not naked' and 'comfortable'. This typically translates into jeans. On the rare occasion that its cold I do have my black leather trench which doubles as a raincoat and a convenient way to intimidate stupid people.

While my clothes are generally in the basic category there are two things I "go nuts" over.

Coats and sunglasses, I have a large collection of coats and jackets ranging from great coats to military jackets to parkas, all in the name of science of course. As for sunnies I like older models like aviators and similar variants.
...scum.

if walmart did not force me to wear blue one side of my closet would be full of black short sleeve shirts and black jeans and the other would have all of my star trek uniforms and mass effect gear. nothing very complex in there...think I have one suit I wore to graduation but thats about it.

for appealing it really depends. the person makes the clothes work...I think..

Solid color tees, blue jeans, and my Flecktarn or black jacket is what I normally wear.
For going out a button-up shirt with my tactical pants from LA Police Gear, which make very good dress pants.

Thanks for the replies, folks. Personally, I'm kind of a victorian goth nut. I collect corsets. Not saying I dress like this all the time, cos it's hard work to get into the full goth get-up. I reserve that for special occasions. Most of the time, I just go for long sleeve shirts, a skirt, striped stockings and boots.

I have a thing for high heeled footwear, but that might just be a subconscious effort to compensate for my diminutive stature :P

maybe. being average height (mef could probably use me as an armrest :P) I like to think I can see things from both perspectives though. sometimes even the relatively tall women wear heels..does not make much sense to me.

Damn, If I stood next to Mef, the best I could hope for would be to look him in the belly button :P

Average height is tall to me. Even Kikai said she could probably pick me up :P

I usually dress in dress shirts and a tie with jeans, but in winter I wear my trenchcoat. And hats. I'm always wearing a hat. And I really wish I had more chances to wear my bowler without getting weird looks.

And then there's the whole eye-patch thing.
