Depends, Do you like 3D  4X RTS'? If so you may enjoy it.

...Though the game is really fun. Much better than Civilization if you ask for my opinion

Okay, 2 good ways to crack a TEC starbase:

1 - Choose the TEC rebels and bring a decent leveled Titan into the fray
2 - Bring in a HUGE blob of strike craft. Weirdly enough, TEC starbases seem to be quite defenseless against strike craft except for their own craft. A big enough blob overwhelms the base.

I like to build starbases on the outskirts of their gravity well and upgrade the strike craft

Yeah, but one TEC starbase can get up to 14 squadrons in it. If you bring a blob of 100 squadrons like I did...

Them who?

Those buggers who use swarm tactics.

They use them cause they work. :P

Its unrealistic in the long run, if you care about casualties, but it works.

And I wasn't even talking about swarms of Capital Ships. Of course, having a swarm of Carriers helps in creating a swarm of strike craft.

I started using swarms tactics because cracking TEC bases was starting to cost me due to capital ship loss. The AI had those buggers fully upgraded for combat. So I switched to swarms:

1 - Build swarm of carriers and/or carrier cruisers plus some heavy-hitters and a titan
2 - Jump to the target system
3 - Let the strike craft mop up everything in-system while the capital ships stand back and do nothing. If anyone comes close, they get murdered.
4 - ???
5 - Profit!!!
