[/float] Planning on buying Mass Effect 3 on steam? You may want to think again. Bioware has released the following message on their developer forums that the popular Mass Effect series will not be available on Steam for its March 6 release date. Bioware cited that
"During initial release Mass Effect 3 will be available on Origin and a number of other 3rd party digital retailers, but not on Steam at this time. Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content. We are intent on providing Mass Effect to players with the best possible experience no matter where they purchase or play their game, and are happy to partner with any download service that does not restrict our ability to connect directly with our consumers.". This event is following the recent trend of EA pushing its abusive DRM on its users with games such as Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, and many others being forced off steam and into Orgin Only.
One can guess that due to this, this spring's final instalment of the Mass Effect series may have a hard time getting a grip in the PC market whos saves are with steam. When will EA learn no one wants their junk.
