Cold Shock

++Log:1, Year 5 after Emergence, Day 72++
.........
..............
........Begin Recording:

And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. *Metal taps on stone like surface*  This realm's Human Philosphers put it best, for I have long gazed into the dark, and it has looked into me... This realm knows not the true horrors of war, and what lies in the abyss, but if it can be managed a few will be made to witness the abyss, to save the others from the knowledge of it.

Ignorance is truly bliss, but to remain ignorant...some from this crop must be harvested and made to know. And know they shall... In time, this will serve to benifit them, turn them away from what became of others...

I shall give them the cold embrace of the void, if only to make them insolation for the rest of these....primitives. A gift they shall never know of, and one that must be given. As it is the responsible thing to do. It is time to show them the void, their eyes open, so the rest may stay shut.

Rules

The most important rule to note for this game is no god-modding, you cannot make you character perform ridiculous feats, have knowledge of things they should not(Even hinting at it), or be able to do things they should not be capable of. You are not all one man armies, and so do not act as such, you are not all knowing either. Any who break this rule will be punished in game, what they do will be retconned and will instead face character consequences, if it gets bad enough, character death. You get three strikes with this.

The second rule to note is their will be minimum writing lengths, do not post something less than two complete paragraphs, meaning eight sentences. Think out each post, if you cannot think of something, do not post, I repeat, do not post. Short posts will be ignored or deleted. Do not respond to short posts. If you and a characters are having conversations and cannot think of ways to lengthen the post, combine your posts in a PM and make the conversation the viewpoint of one person(So it makes sense) and have the others write their replies. Then one of you makes the post. Ways to lengthen a post, include observations of your surroundings and other characters, gestures your character makes, condition your character is in, thoughts and feelings and movements. Their is plenty to write about. If you need to know about your surroundings, ask a GM through a PM or in the OOC thread. So remember, 2 paragraph minimum, this means 8 sentences minimum per post.

A Third rule is to know that this game will not be rules heavy, it will have a honor based system where you the player are responsible for making reasonable posts and actions that are within the abilities of your character, in both knowledge and combat. Refer to rule one for the punishments of going against this rule. In combat the GM, or whoever has created the scenario, will describe the situation in the best way they can, they will tell you where enemies are positioned, what they are doing, and where you are positioned, it is up with the players to write out what they do, within limits provided. Meaning you can kill random enemies with "ease"" as long as you write out and describe the combat(AND IT IS REASONABLE AND NOT DESCRIBED IN AN OP WAY, REFER TO RULE 1), communicate with the other players so you can know where everyone else is and who they went after.  Remember struggle, take damage, fight back, over come difficult odds, run from impossible ones. Come up with smart solutions to combat situations.

The Fourth and final Rule relates to difficult actions, or interacting with NPCs. You may talk with and make up NPC(Within reason, do not make them act out of character, Refer to rule 1 for punishments) and interact with said NPC as long as they act properly and do not give you some sort of advantage, not getting free stuff. So for purchasing Items, ask us GMs and will will tell you what they have in stock and how much it costs. Difficult actions will be determined by the GM, or if you think something should be difficult let us know, its better to let us know then us possibly mistaking it for god-modding. So lets say you want to hack a door, but its either very encrypted, or its a door that a foreign alien species designed(You can not possibly know the programming language it uses or immediately comprehend its mechanics, unless it is incredibly simple), then we can do a simple dice roll challenge that can be determined on the spot, depending how difficult it should be. This also applies to attempting something outside your character's skill set. This will also apply to Psionic powers in all cases, until the GM grant you proficiency to be able to use powers without consequence.

Name-Description

This Section is pretty simple and straight forward. Enter a Character name, and surname if applicable, or some form of identification. For Race it should be the race of the empire you come from, and while on this note, do not use characters you intend to use in the empire game, they will no longer apply there. However that does not mean Empire characters cannot make Cameos(At GM discretion). Also for race, if their is a subgroup your character belongs to, please identify it. Meaning Ethnicity and such. Such as Human, Oriental for an example. The rest is pretty self explanatory. For the Description, please write AT LEAST 1 paragraph. You may include an image but be warned, a paragraph description is still needed. In the description include everything from skin color, to identifying marks, such as tattoos, scars, birthmarks, etc.

Class-Combat Skills

Like any RPG, there will be a "class" for your character, this is generally to describe your role in combat, whether its Marksmen, sniper, rogue, assassin, Guardian, Support, medic, ect. You are free to invent a class as long as its described so we understand what you mean. Combat Proficiency describes your ability to use certain weapons, if you are a sniper, obviously you will use sniper rifles, and ect. You get to be proficient in two weapons to start, penalties will be given if you attempt to use weapons you are not proficient in using. You can learn to use new weapons over time, during times between missions/campaigns. However you will be limited by your class, and what is reasonable for your character to be able to use. Also there is a difference between weapon types, you will have to learn to use alternative versions of you weapon types. So identify what weapon type you are proficient at like this Sniper Rifle(Kinetic). For light ranged weapons(Meaning not heavy weapons) their will be 6 types {Kinetic, Photonic(Laser), Particle, Plasma, Tesla, Exotic}. You are limited to what your race has, the rest can be found or bought through the course of the game. For Heavy weapons(Meaning Gatling guns to Rocket/missile launchers) you get 7 types {Kinetic, Photonic(Laser), Particle, Plasma, Tesla, Explosive, Exotic} you only have what is available to your race similar to light weapons. For Melee weapons it will be simplified into Two-handed and One Handed, with 5 types for both {Standard, Powered, Energy, Electric, Exotic}. Pretty much all of you only have access to Standard.

Secondary combat skills will be different you can have 3, or more depending on class, and you may need to sacrifice one weapon proficiency to have more secondary combat skill. Secondary skills can be sort of like abilities, such as Suppressing Fire, Spotting, Stealth, etc. Or other forms of combat such as hand to hand combat, or Improvised weapons(Meaning the ability to use things around you in close combat such as stabbing someone with a pencil or bashing someone with a sharp rock laying near you. For Medics this can include Combat stims, Field Medical Treatment and similar things. For someone who supports, that might be coming to someones aid, Covered Retreats, and when you get tech later on giving Allies Temporary Shields and etc. This can also mean piloting combat vehicles, or piloting combat craft. Discuss with the GMs if you are unsure if a skill is acceptable. And as always, penalties if you do not have the skills required, and extreme penalties for not knowing medical skills.

Profession-Knowledge

For Profession this is rather self explanatory, as it means what is your characters job, if any. Are you a professional soldier? Doctor? Thief? Librarian? After deciding this, give yourself skill related to this, limiting you at 4 depending. This can be just about any skill your character has not related to combat. However space combat skill can be included here, meaning piloting combat space craft. Try to keep to what your profession would know.

Knowledge will pertain to exactly that, what your character is able to know or talk about. Everyone has basic knowledge of their own race, however to know everything about your race you will need to put Historian(Your Race Here), also all characters, unless they are an idiot , know basic things from math and science, on a basic level, for anything higher than that please specify. You may have 4 knowledge skills, two major and two minor. Major meaning you know just about everything for that subject(Like Historian), while minor means you know more than most but not everything in a subject. You can have more if you sacifice a skill for it. Also try to have knowledge related to your skills, also having certain types of knowledge can grant skill by default. Miscellaneous knowledge is not limited, and can relate to things your character likes, it does not necessarily affect your skills, but may be related to them.

Psionic Abilities

This is essentially Warp Powers, as you may come in contact with warp phenomenon during the course of these adventures. No one has these powers except Killer Rin's Race, with its Minor Telepathy, which his race gets as default. Only way for this to get stronger is to develop psionic powers through Warp Contact which has a chance of inducing mutation. You have a choice to get these powers in most cases, however if it is appropriate to give you a power as a sort of penalty, so be it. Only ORGANIC races can develop these powers, so most of you can with Rin's race having its foot in the door. So leave this blank, except for RIn's race, which simply put {Telepathy:Minor}. These powers are pretty unlimited in terms of scope and power, but have consequences. Checks are required, so dice will be rolled for these, nothing complicated though, and no major penalties if you fail. If you god mod though, your head may pop. Just let us know if you plan on getting these powers later on and the GMs will ensure you are given the chance. Skill level will come into play here, as follows {Novice, Skilled, Mastery} for each power, using a power gets you closer to increasing skill level, which in turn decreases chance of disaster. Their is always a chance for it to go wrong, but as long as you don't over exert yourself, or use a power that is dangerous by default, you should be fine.

Gear-Armor/Weapon Descriptions

Gear is essentially everything you own in terms of what you will bring with you. What you can bring into combat is different though, as that is limited to what can be carried. Include tools of your trade, weapons, armor and such. Clothing doesn't really need to be specified, I assume you will actually bring fresh clothing and not  ferment in weeks old undies. However anything useful should be accounted for. Also a wallet is essential. what a good amount of money to have at the beginning will be determined later. This game will have its own currency to be used universally and it will be kept in check, your starting money will mostly be for your home planet only, whenever you are there(Which won't be much at all unless the plot bring us there, which will be discussed later.) Give decent descriptions of your items, if necessary, you may also simply link pictures, which this is the only time this will be accepted as a description on its own. If you have more to add about these item, write it.

Background
Probably the most essential part of this sheet. A minimum of two paragraphs is required, more is highly encouraged. Build me a believable character please. You may be required to make changes if the GMs think it is necessary. If you intend to keep things hidden from people, please PM THE GMS ALL NECESSARY INFORMATION. You cannot hide information from us for any reason, IF it is important to character development and if you intend to build a plot for the group to follow during the RP. (Yes, you can make quests, this doesn't mean their isn't a story for this game, there is plenty to do, but you can add to it.) So make it a good read, but don't overdo it, sometimes things can become a bit repetitive, so edit and revise if necessary.

Final Notes

This game has a story it will follow, so do not fear stagnation. You can create your own plot-lines to follow as well, but take time to develop them, and PM detail to the GMs and we can figure out together when it would be best to follow it. Who knows, if it is appropriate and around our ability near the beginning, after the Intro mission, we can do a player made mission. Please have fun, this is what this game is for, first and foremost, not only will we flesh out each of your races, with your characters, but we will build a galaxy as we explore, encounter new civilizations, dungeon crawl, and hopefully stop terrible things from happening. Its cold out there in the unknown, you might be shocked at what you find.

Background: Ursea was born to the Dynasties ruling clan, where she was considered a runt, however during the culling she survived beyond expectations. She was quickly taken under the wing of Huntracks of the clan where she apprenticed hunters before becoming a soldier for some time. After finishing her tours as a soldier she became a full time Huntrack of the Gessat discipline. She took this path not only because she enjoyed hunting beasts, but because she had a natural affinity for animals, as mentioned early her survival of the culling was considered miraculous for a runt. She managed to tame a young Guttluok during the culling, which she named Suu-Suu, and the beast would be her partner in battle and hunting for life. As a Beast hunter she worked well with her Suu-Suu, as the tandem team could take down great beasts that would take a whole party of hunters to accomplish.
She has always been conscientious of her height, even though physically attractive, she still felt like a runt and was a lot of the times treated as such despite her accomplishments. She eventually signed up for a mercenary band to see the galaxy at large, and on her travels she found a love of Human culture, maybe it was some affinity for the species due to their closeness in size,  even though on average she is still larger than the average human. Mostly she fell in love with the fashion of human women in their many cultures, having an affinity for doing her makeup like them and buying special made clothes from them. This practice however is viewed as strange by the her fellows, so she keep it to herself.

He keeps the hair of his mane medium-long, but it still stands straight on its own, save for a light curvature backwards. The hair on his tail, however, is long and thick like a thick brush. His body is tall and slender but also lean and muscular; the compact, stringy nature of Iko musculature makes him look quite a bit weaker than he actually is to the alien eye. Thada's face carries the story of a detonated shrapnel grenade, covered in a dozen smaller scars as well as two larger ones, all clearly visible as starkly light blue lines. The shrapnel also took with it small parts of his upper lip, revealing the tips of three of his teeth.

Class: Skirmisher - Iko do not typically fight in the traditional sense of duck-and-cover. They are always on the move, relying on their mobility to outmaneuver and flank the enemy, as well as their personal shielding to keep them alive while doing so. Despite their size, Iko are experts on making themselves hard to hit.

Combat Proficiencies: Submachine guns (Kinetic), Iko wrist-blades(Standard)

Secondary Combat Skill: Stealth, Hand-to-hand, Agility

Profession: Mercenary, soldier, security officer

Skills: Mobility, maneuvering, survivalism, guerilla tactics, combat first aid, field crafting

Knowledge: Professional soldier, professional skirmisher, Minor (Vis customs), Minor (Vis linguistics)

Misc Knowledge: Singing, drawing, Iko history

Psionic Abilities: None

Gear: Weapon maintenance kit, spare energy packs for shielding, first aid kit, survival kit, wallet, oxygen mask w/ gas supply

Armor/Clothing Description: In battle Thada, wears a TFRS-100 Iko combat suit which he managed to get with him out of the military, though he lost the helmet long ago. The suit is made of ultra-light alloy plates over a mesh of carbon nanotubing and super-insulating fabric. It also carries a fully integrated full-body shielding, which is the suit's main defensive attribute, as well as an adrenal pump for when stopping is not an option. For civilian clothing, Thada wears a tight-sitting black shirt under a dark blue Iko field jacket, and a pair of dark red trousers, held up by a black belt and ending by the ankles. He walks barefoot whenever possible, as his kind most often does. In addition, whenever on a world unfit for Iko physical needs, Thada wears a see-through oxygen mask of tough plastics.

Weapon Descriptions: Stinger - Thada's weapon of choice: a compact, double-gripped, fully automatic submachine gun firing 11.2mm caseless cartridges at 1600 rounds/minute. Standard issue for Iko military regulars. Though the weapon is quite large and unwieldy in the hands of most, the Iko are easily able to fire it with just one hand as well as both.

Wrist-blades - Standard melee weapon attached to Iko combat suits. Though theoretically able to be used in traditional melee, this is not how they are intended to be used. Instead, they are meant to protrude when the wearer plunges on - and grabs onto - their opponent, wherein the blades are automatically thrust into the enemy. These blades are also popular among assassins, as they are easily hidden before and just after stabbing their target.

Background: Thada was born on Ano Ngorani - the Iko's very first colony in the galaxy. Both his parents were born there as well, which made him a true second-generation colonist. But although he loved his homeworld, he always dreamed of going to San Mondi - the cradle of his entire species. That was, until he grew up and actually went there. Everyone who found out he was a colonial started calling him "Redblood", even though the bacteria that turned their blood blue had been given to him when he was just a few weeks old, and started treating him like he was dumb and underdeveloped. It's true that the first generation colonials were plagued with brain damage and similar ailments from the lack of oxygen in the air, but he was in an incubator the first months of his life - they had fixed those problems! But the San Mondians didn't care, and he didn't have the resources to go back to Ano Ngorani any time soon, and so Thada started to hide his colonial origins.

Over the years, Thada grew to despise San Mondians, seeing them as pampered and arrogant as well as high-minded and condescending. Nonetheless he remained on San Mondi, taking up work as a security officer for a few years, then joining the military. This life soon bored him, however, as to him it was just a lot of pumping up for fighting that would never come, as the Republic just sat and watched the conflicts that raged in the galaxy. After a few years, he quit, and instead became a freelance mercenary, serving as a gun-for hire for the Vis against the raiding Kurgeshans, and then again in the Vis-Zahati war, where he got the scars that now riddle his face. But after the Vis' destruction of the Zahati colony of Shurra, including the half million souls that lived there, disillusion set in, and he left shortly before the end of the war. Feeling that he helped in the making of a genocide, Thada grew bitter, particularly towards Vis, and became more reserved with the jobs he accepted. He still loves a good fight and a hefty sum of cash every now and then, but he has resolved to never work for the Vis again.

Spoiler for Zeph/Zephirus, Ragez:
Name: Zeph/Zephirus

Race: Vis

Biological Age: 35 (+15 years of crystal gestation)

Height: 6'2"

Eye Color: bright vibrant red visor-like eyes

Hair: None.

Description: All Vis males with the exception of the Xiphial are the exact same height. All Vis males with the exception of the Xiphial are exactly 130 Kilograms. The only differentiating fact that separates Zeph from his brethren is his bright vibrant red visor-like eye (the Vis visor-eye takes multiple different colors depending on how the Vis was feeling during gestation. The color of the visor can also be seen on different parts of the Vis' body), his unceasing smile, and the unique spiral markings on the edges of his "faceplate" (all Vis facemarkings are unique, there are no two markings that are the same). Being a Vis, he is as strong as a trained human and quickly reactive to the environment around him...but he has little to nothing in the way of proper military training beyond a life of scrapping, fighting, and killing.

Class: Charismatic Scrapper/Rogue

Combat Proficiencies: Knives(Standard), Heavy Weapons (Particle).

Secondary Combat Skill: Hand-to-hand (Scrapper/Dirty Fighting), Agility, Escape Artist(Use Environment to get away or hamper Progress of enemies)

Professions: Thief, Assassin(Unprofessional), Language Teacher, Bodyguard, Garbageman.

Skills: Theft, Persuasion, Mobility, Perception.

Knowledge: Sapient Biology Knowledge (major, applies to only known species), Alien Languages(Major, Jack of all, master of none), Assassination (minor), Deception (minor).

Misc Knowledge: Alien history(Very, very minor), dancing, hoverboard riding(firing weapons while using the hoverboard are heavily penalized).

Psionic Abilities: None.

Gear: Hoverboard, Communication Device/PDA, Multipurpose Energy Pack, Zivine Particle Beam LMG, Vibration Knife, Wallet.

Armor/Clothing Description: None whatsoever.

Weapon Descriptions: Zivine Particle Beam LMG - A Vis weapon stolen from a Fire Warrior barracks. It is a state of the art light machine gun that is extremely reliable, and relies on nothing a charge from the Multipurpose Energy Pack in order to continue firing. The gun is very light and requires little maintenance, but is extremely ineffective in penetrating heavy armor and only excels in depleting energy shielding or burning through light armor/naked flesh. Zeph uses it to lay down suppressive fire and shoot at enemies blindly while surfing on his hoverboard.

Zirkonius Vibration Knife - A one-handed Vibro-weapon that relies on sonic pulses to generate high heat and cut through armor/flesh like butter. It has limited effectiveness against energy shielding, but excels in stabbing through heavy physical armor or tough exoskeletons. Its short range requires Zeph to get extremely close, and the sound the weapon makes while vibrating lessens its effectiveness as a stealthy weapon.

Background:
Zeph is your average everyday frictionally employed adventurer. With no ship to his name and nothing but the hoverboard on his back, he has travelled the galaxy stowing away on ships and garbage vessels in his unstoppable desire for fun, friends, and excitement. Zeph is incapable of anger, with an insatiable lust for the unknown and knowledge gained from years of adventure keeping him aware of the galaxy's risks and cultures, and always willing to make a new friend.

The fracture in his Crystal, however, was what created Zeph in the first place. Zeph is a personality created during Zephirus' gestation process, where memories of the horrors of war from his father and the despair of starvation from his mother split the young crystal into two exactly opposing modalities of thought. Zephirus, the original personality, is cold and cunning: Supremely uncreative in anything but the act of murder. Despite being the original personality, however, he rarely takes control of the body. Viewing the universe as cruel and unloving, Zephirus rarely elects to take control and instead opts to be the voice of cold reason to Zeph.

Zeph rarely listens, but this advice comes in handy when the Vis is forced to resort to less...humane methods of making a living. He only requires energy to live, but stable energy is still not something that is always given freely. The Vis has been an a garbageman, a dock worker, a teacher, a stage performer...but he has also been a thief, an assassin, a fighter for money, and a bodyguard. Nicknamed "Zeph the Zephyr", "Zeph the Zebra", "Zippy Zeph", and "Zeph the Zift" (among other unflattering titles) for his lunacy, need for speed, and ever-changing nature...Zeph has made a lot of enemies, a lot of friends, and a lot of fans.

Zeph is not aware of any goals or aspirations he has beyond adventure, his mind -while creative- is simplistic and almost childlike. His likable personality, luck, and creativity is the only reason he has managed to evade jail time and capture for his supreme lack of respect for the law. Zephirus, however, would like only to have his mind unified and the universe return to an orderly and sterile state: Free of the pains of sentient life that cause strife and struggle among the stars.

Ailuin Noatak was born in 2204 on the Arcadonian Colony of Leticia as a 13th Generation Letician Child. Born to a relatively well off family, his parents worked as Project Managers at the Letician Imperial Laboratories within the Xenobiology Department. Because of this, from a young age, Ailuin like most other Arcadonian children, had a keen interest in the sciences and with his parents high ranking positions always found himself on the top of his class.

In 2218 during his final year of compulsory education, Ailuin was accepted into the Xenobiology Program of the highly prestigious Letician branch of the Macello Imperial University for Arcadonian Excellence where for the next 10 years his life he would spending time away from Leticia on various Extraterrestrial Colonies and Scientific outposts around the sector participating in lectures, performing experiments and assisting the full-time scientific staff with their duties.

During one of such deployments he was assigned to a scientific outpost which had received and under lawful permits had an operation on an outer colony of the Coalition States of Earth. While at first things were proceeding as usual, over his stay the local population began to grow increasingly hostile towards Ki'Jannians to the point of outright protest and violence with chants being made for segregation between the Ki'Jannian residents and Humans. During this time Ailuin began to form an extreme distaste towards humans with that distaste evolving into outright hatred when upon walking from the scientific outpost to his residence he was assaulted by a small group of Humans using deadly weapons. Ailuin only surviving due to his usage of his species Telepathic Abilities to stun the people and escape.

Due to Ailuin's acts of Self-Defence in light of being attacked and nearly murdered, the scientific outpost was forced to closed down by the local colonial administration. This was also the last Research Station on a Coalition world Ailuin had the experience of participating in due to the increased tensions between the Arcadonian Empire and the Coalition States of Earth having increased to a stage where the Arcadonian Empire pulled all scientists working within Coalition territory.

Despite this, Ailuin continued his program with no issue. Often visiting additional scientific outposts on both uninhabited and inhabited worlds, hostile and safe, in addition to worlds within the territory of other Civilizations. Within 2228 he successfully finished the program at the top of his class and was immediately scooped up by the Letician Imperial Laboratories where within a year he managed to work his way up the chain and by 2229 had managed to get a promotion to the head of newly created joint Letician Imperial Laboratories-Colonial Security Xeno-Response Unit as head of Xenobiology. During this time receiving formal Colonial Security and Military training.

As head of this Unit, Ailuin was responsible for the handling and management of research and experiments related to Xenobiological Threats facing the Arcadonian Empire and specifically Leticia, helping to put in place policies and perform achievements that allowed him to be recognized sector-wide.

Background:
Khrelan's early years were mostly boring and uneventful. Born to a lower clan, he mostly helped around the clan's compound, be either farming, building or out hunting among the sands. Highly technical jobs were very scarce.
Unsatisfied with his lot in life, he enrolled in the army at the earliest age possible. As he already preferred long range weapons, his training mostly consisted of sniper rifle practice, dedicating some time to pistols, assault rifles melee combat to round out his skills.
After graduation he was assigned to a squad whose duties mostly consisted of exploration of alien worlds, from lifeless barren planets, to planets with lush, and hostile flora and fauna. Sure, this assignment had its highs and lows, but it was good overall. And it paid well, because soldiers willing to travel to alien worlds were essentially scarce.
During a particularly difficult mission on a lush alien world, his squad got stuck on the planet for an extended period of time due to a malfunction on their ship. As supplies wouldn't be the immediate problem (there were enough food, water and ammunition to last for weeks), the commanding officer decided to forge ahead in their mission, confident that someone would come when they didn't return to the home-world at the assigned time. During one of these sorties, the entire squad was beset by a rather large pack of vicious and cunning carnivores. They were no match for the Taurgit weaponry, but still, there were way too many. After the dust cleared, the predators were dead, but Khrelan was the only Taurgit left standing. Wounded and reeking of both alien and taurgit blood, he had to take off into the wilderness and do his best to make himself as undetectable as possible. Eventually he made it back to the busted ship, which proved a much more defensible location. Weeks later a rescue party turned up and extracted Khrelan, taking him back to the home-world.
Khrelan felt that that was quite enough exploration to last for a lifetime, or perhaps a couple of years, so he left the army and enrolled in the private sector as security personnel. It didn't pay as well, but it was a much safer job.
After acquiring enough money for a personal fighter-sized starship, he took to privateering for a much larger profit.

Eurina’s pistol is simply one that she was issued due to the necessity of military training when living life on a flotilla.

They began to move her in the classes where more children born to The Ones Below are groomed to become more suitable breeding partners for The Ones Above. Her parents were pleased on where her path was taking her, but Eurina became more unwilling as she reached her sexual maturity. She became rebellious and resented both her parents and the community leaders that were pushing her to find a suitable partner. After rejecting the marriage proposal of a government figure she was sent aboard a flotilla set out for expedition called Estellyn. She was sent to train with the Hírilani to become a Hírilani’Eless for her people. Challenge Rolls

Skill Points
Players will have one way of gaining Skill Points
1. The GM will decide to give them out as a reward for doing something ranging from doing something in character to excellent RPing and Writing Skills

Skill Checks
When the GM Determines that a Skill Check is necessary, the player rolls a 1d20 and depending on the degree of their success or failure, something happens. Success usually being defined as rolling over 50%. The GM will let you know what your particular roll means

Another player may assist in the Skill Check only if they have a point in that required skill. To assist, a player simply rolls a 1d20 and a 50% is a successfull assist. On a successfull assist, the primary roller can add +1 to their roll

Combat
Every attack is assumed to be a success. Players simply roll the damage die for their Weapons and add in their Skill Modifiers. That is the damage the target takes.

In some circumstances, such as Bosses you may be asked to roll an Attack Roll to determine if you hit the enemy. In this case roll a 1d20 Attack Roll and add your modifiers to determine if you hit the target. For this circumstance a 50% is a successful hit with a natural 20 being double damage

Psionic Abilities

Psionic Abilities are split into several categories with each category having its own list of powers (or Spells) associated with them. In order to cast a spell a player must have at least 1 Skill Point in the spell. Some spells will also have prerequisites associated with them, however this will be listed in the Notes section of the spell in question.

Each Psionic ability will have its own rules associated with it. In general however, you can assume that all Psionic Abilities will include some form of roll or passive ability and that bad rolls can have (sometimes dire) consequences associated with them. How these rolls will operate is fully dependent on your specific Psionic Ability. Check your character sheet for descriptions on how your specific Psionic Ability works.

Ex. A Telepath has to do opposing rolls to form a connection before they can do anything whereas a Biopsionic can just heal with rolls to determine amount and success rate.

GM REFERENCE

Skill Rolls

These rolls are determined by a practical skill in action, when needed. These types of roll will be stated and will use a d100 single roll to perform. Depending on the difficult will determine how hard it is to roll the right number. The number or numbers that must be rolled will be determined by the difficulty which will be stated below.

Novice: 80% success rate (Meaning 80 out of 100 die results)
Trained: 60% Success Rate
Proficient: 40% Success Rate
Expert: 30% Success Rate
Masterful: 20% Success Rate
Artisan: 10% Success Rate
Perfect: 5% Success Rate
Improbable: 1% Success Rate
Impossible: 0% Success Rate (Attempting may still yield results, whether good or bad)

Psionic Power
Power level is ranked as follows:

Minor: 1-5 is a failure, 20 is an enhanced result

Moderate 3-8 is a failure, 1-2 is a terrible failure, 20 is enhanced result

Major power: 4-10 is a failure, 1-3 is a terrible failure, 20 is an enhanced result

Advanced: 1-4 terrible failure, 5-12 failure, 20 is an enhanced result

Master: 1 Ultimate Failure, 2-5 Terrible Failure, 6-14 Failure, 20 Enhanced Result

A failure results in minor consequences, or even the chance for mutation, though the chance is extremely low. If you manage to result in mutation, you can be granted a new power. Terrible failures only results in consequences, and can cause self harm or make a situation worse. Ultimate Failure is essentially death, or in the case of player characters, incapacitated for the duration of combat, this result could cause everyone to be incapacitated. For an Enhanced result, your character  does more damage with a power or has a better effect than expect. This result also improves your skill automatically with an ability, granting a single reroll to improve a result the next time you use a power. This stacks up to four times, and the reroll ability is permanent. If you risk using these powers you can be rewarded with the ability to use them more frequently with less risk of failure. Master Abilities however can only get up to two re-rolls.

Powers while being ranked by how strong they are, also can be ranked by how proficient in the skill they are.

Novice, Skilled, Proficient, Expert, and Mastery

Novice grade increase chance of failure, and each upgrade decreases chance of failure on top of earned Re-Rolls. Very powerful abilities can never remove their chance of failure, and skill level means that failure may not be as harmful as lower skill levels.

*Mod Powers, Locked Thread Post*

I'll start thinking up a character. As for the Ki'Jans Telepathy, I have a defined set of rules around telepathy... Limits and Rules. Just linking them here in case anyone (for whatever reasons) wants to go Ki'Jan.

Due to this, he has been living off the grid, because of his profile back in the army. Surely, he has lots of enemies. It's been a while however, since he has encountered anyone other than his ship AI. He keeps living on, trying to find a way to restore his ship to a minimum functioning capacity and return back to his homeworld, yet the technology he needs is not easy to come by.

Historian by day, soldier on request, this man takes pride in the history of all things, especially of his own race. Catching people off guard, he can go on for hours and hours about anything related to the Arcadians. In a guest lecture, he put a class of 30 to sleep because he talked about the significance of a small historical actor. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, engineering, and of course archaeological expeditions.

No Evan, no descendant races. There are no such thing as Arcadians, you gotta choose from the races currently known in Frontier.

I'll wait for Necross to rule on that, but he has nothing barring, or allowing, it. At least in the OP anyways. Just be aware, since this is character driven, I'm putting all my focus on a character, not empire. That's what the other game is for.

Are you? I didn't know that. But anyways, I can remove the descendant part, but as for the Arcadians not being in it...they just haven't showed up yet. Didn't want to make their sheet until it's time for me to actually use them.

Right okay...NPC's are my jurisdiction in F:TV, but tell you what, PM me the sheet for them and I will give serious consideration to making them the next NPC, when an NPC roll is made during exploration. Sound good?

It doesn't really matter if its settled with Grif. I am GM in this game.

One, I said player races I am pretty sure when I suggested this game. Meaning races people control in Frontier The Void. Not NPC Civs. You will be hard pressed to convince me why I should allow you to do this.

I'll make a character from my Civ in this game.

Which is to say, others won't know much about his people or himself. I think.

I'm assuming this game takes place after contact has been estabilished, but not too long after that.

Yes. Not long after first contact.

Yes. Not long after first contact.
Then I have a question. If we all play as characters from these different civilizations that just met each other, how are you tackling the fact that these peoples are probably very isolated from each other? For example, it appears there is nothing to stop me from playing as a Phelediom, but lore-wise it wouldn't make sense for a Phelediom to be anywhere else other than Zahati territory unless they're exploring or invading. I worry there will be a sort of 'wat' feeling about the whole thing, where we just have to accept something nonsensical because reasons.

Keep calm and move along.

What are you talking about?

This takes place immediately after everyone has made contact with each other. Of course these civs will have just met one another. This however has nothing to do with how your civs feel politically about one another, we will set up for each person how they get picked up for this group. This even means going into your territory to recruit your character.

The fact that your characters may have issue with one another just adds to the fun.

Well I mean, how are they going to meet each other? I'm not sure how it is between the other races, so I'll just take Phelediom as an example again. It wouldn't make sense for a Phelediom to be seen outside of Zahati space right after contact. They will be completely isolated; no one is going to leave and they will not allow anyone else to come to them. I assumed this was the case for the others as well, since you don't just pack up and go to another planet like you'd go to another country today.

Keep calm and move along.

I think he's taking that into account. Either the characters have a certain rogue element to them and leave their civ's space on their own accord, or they'll be assigned a mission that requires them to leave, or they'll be extracted from their civ's space.

Citing the example you posted, I expect that the "extraction" scenario would be more likely.
