I, personally, prefer Imperial Guard and the Adeptus Astartes in Dawn of War.

Nationalism aside, its good that people are interested in the 40k world in any way.

So fox and doc, what about elfdar did you like so much? I'm curious.
...scum.

I've found that as a general rule Eldar wins in DOW II every time if you go for Wraith tech with light support. I like Space Marines but I don't have much experience with them.

Not to mention that it isn't truly a god, but the avatar of one. That unit isn't all-powerful.

Sounds like they need to work on balance then...  For both DOW and the table top.

Well the primary reason was when I played UT I got my hands on a warp spider player model which ruled and was my go to model.  Eldar get warp spiders so I went Eldar, play wise in DOW I prefer them to the rest.  Space marines are your everyday humans in way to much armor, yawn.  Chaos marines same but with spikes attached to them, Orks... are orks... and Eldar was the last remaining race in DOW.  Wrecking excrement with the avatar of whatchamacallit was incredibly enjoyable to watch too. :D

This has been the case for a long, long, time, especially for the table-top.

Also when we are at the subject of favorite factions:
1 Eldar*
2 Tau*
3 Space marines* and Imps
4 Tyranids*
5 Everyone else except chaos
6: chaos

*while I still played the table-top I played these.
