I haven't liked EA for many years now, and this only adds to the list. Most companies offer you the ability to opt in or out of such things when using their products. I think that EA feels it's as big as it is, and can get away with something like this. However, when you're trying to attract a user base to a new platform that already has more established competition, you don't do things like force users to give up some of their privacy. All that does is give those that haven't tried the platform yet another reason not to.
