Welcome Ladies and Gentleman to your doom!
« on: July 13, 2012, 07:57:58 PM »
With Steam Sales going on and my impulse buying running wild... I thought well... How much is my Steam account really worth?

And the answer scared me...

http://www.steamcalculator.com/id/pmorgan18

Spoiler for For your protection.:
$3447.25 USD

So how about everyone else, how much is your Steam account really worth?

Leave you nothing left to hold
When you're nothing it's a good time to remind you of one thing
The pursuit begins when this portrayal of life, ends

$2367.60 USD

Not surprising. Most of my purchases were made during big sales, like the Bethesda/id pack during QuakeCon back in the day.

Hmm, this can't be right. Says $0.00 USD, but I have four games on it. Yes, four games. I have never made a Steam purchase in my life. I can't.

It also says I've been a member of Steam since the 1st of January 1970. And it shows no username.

Yes, I've just been stalking some random teenager, photographed him, falsified a diploma to have my name on it and trick him into holding it while I photoed him, uploaded the images here and said it was me :P

Keep calm and move along.

Yeah. That calculator takes the full listed price into account, not what you actually paid. Conversely, when the listed price goes down, so does that calculated value.

Interesting, $1182.15 USD  although I doubt I actually spent that much as I only ever buy when stuff is on sale

And mine is worth zero dollars! I am also apparently lying about my age, or maybe my parents did! Because I am apparently in my late 40's or 50's! Just like Tobbs, though he's more around in his late 30's or 40's!

It is possible to have an account worth 0$ if you have only F2P games in your library. It'd be weird if the games were worth 0 without being F2P. Never saw that happening.

No free-to-play games, just retail games that required Steam to work.

Well that explains the zero value, but what about Steam's apparent misconception about my age?

Your birth date in the database there might indeed be borked. Or whomever made the account just saved the form with whatever default value was in it. Or maybe the field in the database had a default at the time and it didn't complain of an empty field.

Glitch in the system and all PMorgan's fault, got it.
