Nexus City was supposed to be a new hub for the mercantile world to meet and thrive, a new beacon of civilization where people can be people and trade can flourish -- unlike the rest of the world -- and for most it was, and still is, especially for the rising megacorporations. And why wouldn’t it be? Technology make this easy, the ever-present Matrix surround and connect every person, every machine with each other in a vast network; you can pick up and item in a store and purchase it with the same gesture. Knight Errant, or whatever the law-enforcement pass for these days, can use the system to watch your neighbourhood, keeping you safe and secure. .
Of course, as always, with such places there is a downside: Greed. The megacorporations grow ever larger, and seek to always control how the people think for the purpose of having them purchase more of their goods in an unending spiral of consumerism. The Matrix surveillance systems are misused for the gain of the corps, and other organisations too, to spy on others and to use the information gained in a cyberwar, used to fuel another war behind the scenes, a brutal and uncompromising existence.
And then there’s you lot.
So called Runners; deniable assets, mercenaries who work for the highest bidder. Of course, you’re no ordinary thugs, anyone can claim to be that, but rather take on the jobs that no one else will. ex-soldiers, hackers, thieves or whatever, doesn’t matter so long as you can get the job done and live.
Filling it out:
Again, like in the Law is not Justice game, you have 26 points for attributes and 30 points for skills. Attributes start at 1, skills start at 0, and everything above 5 cost two points per increase.
Gear:
A few important notes about gear: Weapons and Armour can both be very advanced items, but for the most part we’re still talking gunpowder propelled ammunition for firearms. What I don’t want to see is things like plasma, laser or rail gun type weapons. Those exists, but are very rare and high-grade military.
You can however have all manner of gadgets on your weapons, like thermographic scopes and the like, but keep in mind that it has to make sense. You are, afterall, just new to this Runner deal.
Also, please do write your clip size, effective* ranges and rates of fire on your guns.
Implants:
You can have
one implant system at the start. You may suggest your own, so long as you explain to me what it is and what it does. I’ll do the balancing.
