Title: Mass Effect 3: Extened Cut Announced
Post by: The Doctor on April 05, 2012, 09:19:39 PM
[float=left][attach=1][/float]Looks like Bioware/EA has finally given a definitive response to the ending controversy.  A free DLC will be released to "expand upon the events at the end" and "give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes".  Personally this is far more than I expected but I think it's no coincidence this news is released today as Bioware will have a panel at PAX east and this will allow them to easily deflect any questions regarding the ending.  A release date is not exactly given but a note of "OFFER EXPIRES APRIL 12, 2014" is interesting, suggesting an quick release.  We shall see...

Still doesn't seem like enough. I would rather they just put the time into having an optional secondary ending for those who want it than what they are implying it to be

I already knew they were not gonna change it. I am happy they are willing to explain it and hopefully fix some of the things that just plain don't make sense, like the whole being abandoned by you buds.

Heh. Looks like they're pulling out all the stops for this one. Not.

Welp, there goes my hope for a completely different ending. I suppose if they don't play it just right, they'll just be pouring salt on an open wound. Then there's the "Offer expires April 12" I mean, wtf is up with that. Probably EA

Also, took the time to read though the article on Bioware. Rather than re-open the wound for myself, I may just avoid this one. All it is is an extended cutscene. Bioware still pulling the "artistic" BS. Nothing to see here folks. Mass Effect has been soiled and it looks like it's staying that way.

Doesn't mean we should shut up and apply Okay-face.

I swear, if Bioware doesn't give the poeple what they want, which I seriously doubt they will, I will boycott the excrement out of EA and make as many as possible do the same.

I was wondering when someone would post this. My policy is "cautious optimism". If they do it right, it might just do. If not, which appears to be the general consensus, then I don't even want to think about the backlash this would cause.

Lots of shouting and grumbling, but for EA/BW business as usual. They don't give a flying gently-carress.

They never did, Mike. They never did.

Its sad to say, but I believe we have witnessed the fall of Bioware thanks to EA. I have never seen the progress of such a decay before, because for the most part I never played games from the companies they already destroyed.

Well it seems we have a better understanding.

As for this release of extended scenes, I can only hope they are somehow redeeming. I will still hope, until it fails, which we will know in only a few months.

Jesus Christ, people.

It's a bad ending. It's not like it's the apocalypse.

And the rest of the game is fantastic, anyway.

How many hours did you put in the series, Mukora?

I don't doubt it. It is principle however that matters here.

It doesn't overall matter, but it does guarantee that people like me won't purchase from them again. I am hopeful that this release is redeeming, but I am prepared for a let down also.

We will see. One should enjoy the game for what it is, then let it die, and be done with it. Or avaoid it all together. I have access to play it so i will, I reccomend other to just buy it used, or for PC's find less honest ways of playing.

Just as much as any of us. He just isn't whining.

I respect that. I can see why he has that attitude, i just believe that it still impacts the whole trust thing with Bioware.

Meh, fair enough. I can understand and respect why people would find this whole outrage thing dumb. excrement, sometimes I wonder why I care so much...
