EA Updates Origin's EULA Following Outcry

As of late August, EA has updated the very controversial EULA clause that allowed them to spy on users computers and even sell the information to third parties, should they so desire.  The revised clause is as follows:

Quote
“EA would never sell your personally identifiable information to anyone, nor would it ever use spyware or install spyware on users’ machines. We and agents acting on our behalf do not share information that personally identifies you without your consent, except in rare instances where disclosure is required by law or to enforce EA’s legal rights.”

Many gamers are undoubtedly still worried about upcoming games that will require EA's proprietary service, but this should help to lessen fears.  While EA would have been stupid to not update their contract, it's good to see that, for now, EA has fixed this rather embarrassing problem..

Eh. I still don't trust it, but at least this is more... tactful.

:haha: I noticed they changed this not even a week before people found out it had changed. I thought it was updated on the other thread with the new policy

eh, they might have changed the EULA but that doesn't change the nature of the program

Except it does?  The program is not spyware, as the original EULA suggested.  It's just a download program, no real different from Steam (which I know you hate as well).

EA still sucks, but its nice they are trying to suck less than they usually do. This is good for those who actually choose to be their customers.
